Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy, commonly known as Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy or YSR, was an Indian politician and statesman. He was born on 08 July 1949 in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh, India, and passed away on 02 September 2009. YSR Reddy was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) party and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, a state in southern India, from 2004 until his untimely death in a helicopter crash.
YSR Reddy was known for his charismatic leadership and populist policies, which garnered significant support among the people of Andhra Pradesh. During his tenure as Chief Minister, he implemented various welfare programs, including the flagship program "Arogyasri," which aimed to provide free healthcare to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. His efforts in improving healthcare, education, and rural infrastructure earned him popularity and the nickname "People's Chief Minister."
