02 March - The movie King Kong premiere in New York City.

 


"King Kong" had its world premiere in New York City on March 2, 1933. The film, directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, is a classic monster adventure that tells the story of a giant ape named Kong, who is taken from his remote island home and brought to New York City, where he creates chaos. The film is celebrated for its groundbreaking special effects, particularly in the creation of the stop-motion animation for Kong, and it has become an iconic and influential piece of cinematic history.

02 March - Mount Rainier National Park is established.

 


Mount Rainier National Park was established on  02 March 1899. Located in the U.S. state of Washington, Mount Rainier National Park encompasses the iconic Mount Rainier, an active stratovolcano and the highest mountain in the state. The park is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including old-growth forests, alpine meadows, and glaciers.

The establishment of Mount Rainier National Park was one of the earliest instances of the U.S. federal government setting aside land for the preservation of its natural beauty. The park attracts visitors with its stunning landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, and opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as hiking and climbing.

 

02 March - Baloch Culture Day

 

The Baloch or Baluch (Balochi: بلۏچ) are a Western Iranic ethnic group, who are native to the Balochistan region of South and Western Asia encompassing the countries of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. There are also Baloch diaspora communities in neighbouring regions, including in Central Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula.

The Baloch people mainly speak Balochi or Brahui, despite their contrasting location on the southeastern side of the Persosphere. The majority of Baloch reside within Pakistan. About 50% of the total ethnic Baloch population live in the Pakistani province of Balochistan,while 40% are settled in Sindh and a significant albeit smaller number reside in Pakistani Punjab. They make up nearly 3.6% of Pakistan's total population, and around 2% of the populations of both Iran and Afghanistan

Baloch Culture Day is celebrated by the Balochi people annually on 2 March with festivities to celebrate their rich culture and history

02 March - Alexander II becomes Tsar of Russia.

 

Alexander II became Tsar of Russia on March 2, 1855, following the death of his father, Nicholas I. His full name was Alexander II Nikolaevich, and he ruled as Tsar from 1855 until his assassination in 1881. Alexander II is often remembered for his significant reforms, including the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, which aimed to modernize and liberalize various aspects of Russian society. Despite these reform efforts, his reign faced challenges and ended tragically with his assassination by political radicals.

02 March - International Conference on the Goats

 

A commemorative postage stamp issued on (02.March.1992) the 5th.International Conference on the Goats : With the theme of "Goat and Rural Prosperity" was organized from 2 to 8 1992 in New Delhi.The conference was attended by 1000 participants, 700 from within the country and 300 from almost countries of the world , both developed and developing.The main objectives were to provide a scholarly exchange of information on all aspects of goats and utilisation of their products for the benefit of mankind. The stamp depicting a seal from the Harappa culture of 2500 to 1500 B.C. The first Day  cover shows a stone carving of around 1 B.C. depicting the legend of King Daksha with a goat head along with his consorts , worshiping Lord Shiva.The cancellation depicting another seal from the Harappa culture.

02 march - International Rescue Cat Day

 





Several countries including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, observe International Rescue Cat Day with great enthusiasm.

International Rescue Cat Day is observed on March 2 every year. There are a lot of homeless cats on the streets just waiting for a day like this where people will come to take them off the streets and adopt them as a member of their families. To adopt a cat, you just need to visit a pet adoption agency and after the agency does their due diligence and everything checks out, they then go ahead with the adoption. Most domesticated cats are valued by humans for companionship, especially by people who work from home and people who live in apartments.

02 March - Morocco declared independence of France.

 


Morocco gained independence from France on 02 March 1956. On this date, France officially recognized the independence of Morocco, ending the period of French protectorate that had been in place since the signing of the Treaty of Fes in 1912.

The negotiations leading to Morocco's independence were complex, and the process involved diplomatic discussions between the French and Moroccan governments. Sultan Mohammed V played a significant role in these negotiations. Upon independence, Mohammed V became the king of Morocco.

 

02 March - Inauguration of Sindri Fertilizer 1951

 

Inauguration of Sindri Fertilizer Factory on 2 March 1951, was the first Government owned company. It came into being in December 1951 as the first Public Sector Company in India.

In his inauguration speech, the then Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru said that he was not just inaugurating a fertilizer factory but he was inaugurating a temple of modern India. The Company Sindri Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited was merged in January 1961 with another fertilizer manufacturing company Hindustan Chemical and Fertilizers Limited floated by the Government of India in July 1959 to form a bigger Company the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited.

02 March - Sri Lanka Air Force Day

 

Many nations around the world observe some kind of Armed Forces Day to honor their military forces. This day is not to be confused with Veterans Day or Memorial Day.

In Sri Lanka each armed services celebrates its own Army Day (10 October), the Navy Day (9 December) and the Air Force Day (2 March) respectively. However all armed services celebrate Independence Day (4 February) with a military parade in which they display their full colours.Since 2010, the armed services also hold parades on Victory and Remembrance Day (18 May), in honour of the armed forces fallen, heroes and veterans of the Sri Lankan Civil War.
