01 October - Tannu Tuva first stamp issue in 1926

The first stamps of Tannu Tuva were issued on 01 October 1926. These stamps were created by overprinting Russian Imperial stamps with "ТУВА" (Tuva) and other inscriptions in Cyrillic. The overprints were used to assert Tannu Tuva's identity as an autonomous region.

The 1926 issue consisted of 15 stamps, ranging in denominations from 1 kopek to 50 kopeks. These stamps primarily served practical postal purposes and reflected the transitional period of the region, which was striving to establish its independence.

Later, Tannu Tuva became renowned for its innovative and colorful stamp designs, especially during the 1930s, when the stamps were issued with themes depicting local culture, wildlife, and transportation. These creative issues gained international attention and remain popular among philatelists.
