A commemorative postage stamp issued on 02 May 1988 on the Birth Anniversary of Swathi Thirunal Rama Verma Maharaja of the Kingdom of Travancore (1813 - 46): He was a multi-faceted personality who made his mark in various capacities - as an able ruler, administrator. He is also considered as a brilliant music composer and is credited with over 400 classical compositions in both Carnatic and Hindustani Style.Maharaja Swathi has written and composed songs in different languages and ragas . The Stamp and first day cover depict Swati Tirunal Rama Verma. The cancellation design by Prof.Mathew K.Thomas depicting the conch , a symbol of Padmanabhan Swamy the deity worshipped by Swati Tirunal.
