India Post issued a postage stamp to commemorate Begum Akhtar on 02 December 1994 which was withdrawn shortly after the  issue being printed with water soluble ink.
Begum Akhtar, born on October 7, 1914, in Faizabad, India, and passing away on October 30, 1974, was an iconic Indian classical and ghazal singer. Her original name was Akhtari Bai Faizabadi.
