Pepsi's origins date back to 28 August 1898. Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern, North Carolina, originally created a drink called "Brad's Drink" in 1893, which he sold in his pharmacy. The drink was made from a mixture of sugar, water, caramel, lemon oil, nutmeg, and other natural additives.
On August 28, 1898, Bradham decided to rename his drink "Pepsi-Cola," a name that was inspired by two of the drink's ingredients: pepsin (a digestive enzyme) and kola nuts. Bradham believed that his drink not only tasted good but also aided digestion, which led to its popularity as a refreshing and healthful beverage.
Over time, Pepsi-Cola became a major brand, competing directly with Coca-Cola and evolving into the global company known today simply as Pepsi. The brand's history is marked by innovation, marketing, and an ever-expanding product line.
