Mount Rushmore National Memorial was actually dedicated on 03 March 1941. The dedication ceremony marked the completion of the monumental
sculpture, which features the faces of four U.S. presidents: George
Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
The sculptor responsible for Mount Rushmore was Gutzon Borglum, who
began the project in 1927, and his son Lincoln Borglum continued the
work after Gutzon's death in 1941.
