Additionally, a Run for Unity, where people participate in runs and walks to symbolize the unity of India, is a common event on this day. The "Statue of Unity," a colossal statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which is one of the tallest statues in the world, was inaugurated in Gujarat on this day in 2018 as a tribute to his legacy and the spirit of national unity.
