On August 19, 1949, Bhubaneswar became the capital of Odisha, a state in
eastern India. Prior to this, Cuttack had been the capital of Odisha.
The decision to shift the capital to Bhubaneswar was made to facilitate
better administration and development in the state. Bhubaneswar has
since grown into a major center for education, technology, and culture
in Odisha, playing a significant role in the state's growth and
progress.
