Martin Van Buren, born on 05 December 1782, in Kinderhook, New York, was
an American statesman and the eighth President of the United States. A
key figure in the development of the Democratic Party, he served as
President from 1837 to 1841. Van Buren faced economic challenges during
his presidency, including the Panic of 1837. He also played a
significant role in shaping the modern political party system. After his
presidency, Van Buren continued to be active in politics. He passed
away on 24 July 1862, at his estate, Lindenwald, in Kinderhook, New
York.
