Blaise Pascal was born on June 19, 1623, in Clermont-Ferrand, in the
Auvergne region of France. He died at the age of 39 on August 19, 1662,
in Paris, France. Pascal was a brilliant mathematician, physicist,
inventor, writer, and Christian philosopher. He made significant
contributions to mathematics and science, particularly in the areas of
probability theory, fluid mechanics, and the development of the
Pascaline, an early mechanical calculator. Pascal is also known for his
philosophical work, including his collection of essays titled "Pensées,"
which explores themes related to faith, reason, and the human
condition.
