Benjamin Harrison was sworn in as the 23rd President of the United
States on March 4, 1889. He served as President from 1889 to 1893.
Benjamin Harrison was a Republican and the grandson of William Henry
Harrison, who was the 9th President of the United States. Harrison's
presidency saw the passage of several significant pieces of legislation,
including the Sherman Antitrust Act and the McKinley Tariff. Despite
his accomplishments, he was defeated in his bid for re-election by
Grover Cleveland in 1892.
