Italo Marchiony, an Italian immigrant, is credited with an early version
of the ice cream cone. He received a patent for his invention on
December 13, 1903. Marchiony's design involved a mold to create a pastry
cup with a flat bottom and pointed top, resembling the modern ice cream
cone. His contribution to the development of the ice cream cone is
significant, and he played a role in popularizing this convenient and
edible vessel for serving ice cream.
