Linus Pauling was born on 28 February 1901, in Portland, Oregon, United
States. He passed away on 19 August 1994, in Big Sur, California,
United States. Linus Pauling was a highly influential American chemist,
biochemist, peace activist, author, and educator. He received the Nobel
Prize in Chemistry in 1954 for his research on the nature of the
chemical bond and its application to elucidating the structure of
complex substances. Additionally, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in
1962 for his activism against nuclear weapons testing.
