Syed Ahmed Khan (1817 – 1898), a prominent Muslim educator, jurist, and social reformer, founded the Aligarh Muslim University on May 24, 1875. Originally established as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, the institution aimed to promote modern education among Muslims in India.
