Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya are celebrating their
Statehood Day on 21 January. They attained Statehood over 24 years after
India gained independence.
On 21 January, 1972, the states of
Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya became full-fledged states under the
North Eastern Region (Re-organisation) Act, 1971.
Greetings to
the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their Statehood Days.
These states are making vibrant contributions to India’s development.
Praying for their constant progress.
North East India comprises seven states and so is
also known as "Seven Sisters" namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. India’s North East region has hills
and plains with a green cover and various varieties of rare and exotic
flora and fauna.
